Hundreds of fans come out and even pack a lunch so that they can stay and watch their favorite players prep during training.  There is no other event in professional sports where the players are so accessible to their fans, but the players enjoy this aspect of their training camps too, because as Trent Cole states, “it is like a high school football game, being here…it’s a positive attitude.  It’s nice to have the fans here.”

The training camp is the last chance players have to show what they’ve got so that the coaches can decide who will be on the final roster.  The most coveted and well-paid position in football is, of course, the quarterback, so the battle for the quarterback position brings the biggest and most exiting battle.  It is also an exiting time for “rookies” who are fighting for a place on the team and giving the training camp their all to stand out for the coaches.

During the training camp the Eagles also play pre-season games which gives the coaches a good look at their players so that they can decide where their draft picks will be placed.  It is during this time that teams will make roster cuts to those players who just don’t show enough promise, and will trade players with other teams with hopes of making the strongest team possible.
